Note that some events are open to the public, some are open only to UoJ people, and others are open to only individual groups. On December 20th, 2024, the University of Juba hosted its inaugural interactive AI Fireside Chat at the STEM Center. This engaging event brought together undergraduate students for an evening of interactive presentations showcasing cutting-edge AI projects and robotics, fostering a dynamic environment for learning and collaboration. Organized by Prof. Felix Gonda, the event celebrated the achievements of 4th-year students in their rigorous Harvard-style AI course, recognizing their outstanding class project, best student, and best teaching fellow. Furthermore, the event featured compelling presentations by graduating seniors (5th-year students) who demonstrated innovative AI solutions addressing local challenges. High school students also contributed by showcasing captivating robotics sample projects. Notably, this Fireside Chat served as the official launchpad for the AI Day 2025 project competition, inviting participation from all undergraduate classes, further solidifying the University of Juba's commitment to fostering a vibrant AI research ecosystem.

On March 23, 2024, the University of Juba hosted an inspiring AI Day event at the main computer lab, bringing together students, faculty, and members of the academic community to celebrate the remarkable achievements of 4th-year students in their mandatory Harvard-style AI course. The event showcased innovative projects developed by the students, highlighting their creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities in artificial intelligence. Five groups were recognized and awarded prizes for their outstanding projects, which ranged from AI-vision-based transportation solutions to sustainable agriculture tools, reflecting the diverse applications of AI in addressing real-world challenges.
