Guidelines for Brainstorming and Proposal Development

1. Understand the Problem Space

• Research Local Challenges: Identify pressing issues in Juba, South Sudan, such as healthcare access, education, agriculture, transportation, energy, or waste management.
• Engage with the Community: Conduct interviews or surveys with local residents to understand their needs and challenges.
• Narrow Down the Problem: Choose a specific, well-defined problem that can be addressed within the 2-month timeline.

2. Brainstorm AI Solutions

• Explore State-of-the-Art AI Technologies: Research cutting-edge AI tools and techniques, such as:
  • Computer Vision (e.g., object detection, image classification)
  • Natural Language Processing (NLP) (e.g., chatbots, sentiment analysis)
  • Predictive Analytics (e.g., forecasting, decision-making models)
  • Generative AI (e.g., text, image, or video generation)
  • Reinforcement Learning (e.g., optimization for resource allocation)
• Think Creatively: Combine AI technologies with local context to propose innovative solutions.
• Feasibility Check: Ensure the solution is realistic and achievable within the timeline and available resources.

3. Develop Your Proposal

Your proposal should include the following sections:

1. Executive Summary: Briefly describe the problem, proposed solution, and expected impact.
2. Problem Statement: Clearly define the local problem you are addressing.
3. Proposed Solution: Explain how your AI solution works and specify the AI technologies and tools you plan to use.
4. Implementation Plan: Break down the 2-month timeline into phases.
5. Expected Impact: Describe how your solution will benefit the local community.
6. Challenges and Mitigation Strategies: Identify potential challenges and propose strategies to overcome them.
7. Team Roles and Responsibilities: Assign roles to team members and highlight their contributions.

4. Use State-of-the-Art Tools and Frameworks

• AI Frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, OpenAI API.
• Data Collection Tools: Google Forms, KoboToolbox, or local surveys.
• Cloud Platforms: Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure for model training and deployment.
• Collaboration Tools: GitHub, Slack, or Trello for team coordination.

5. Prepare for AI Day 2025

• Prototype Development: Build a working prototype or proof of concept to demonstrate your solution.
• Presentation: Prepare a 10-minute presentation showcasing your problem, solution, and results.
• Poster or Demo: Create a visually engaging poster or live demo for the event.
